notion-health-day-board

Complete setup guide: Linux

Other systems: Windows Mac

This guide uses a terminal for the computer steps. Linux has no Shortcuts app, so you still need an iPhone for the health data.

Time: about 1 hour 15 minutes.

You need

Part 1. Get the files (3 minutes)

Open a terminal and run:

git clone https://github.com/YOUR-GITHUB-USERNAME/notion-health-day-board.git
cd notion-health-day-board

If you forked the repository, use your own fork’s address.

Part 2. Make two Notion pages (10 minutes)

  1. To-Do List. Make a page. Add tasks as checkbox lines, one per line. Type [] and a space to start a checkbox. Text after a dash is shown as a note.
  2. Health Log. Make an empty page called Health Log.
  3. Get both page IDs. Open each page, click Share, then Copy link. The page ID is the 32 letters and numbers at the end of the link. Ignore anything after a ?.

Example: https://www.notion.so/To-Do-List-0123456789abcdef0123456789abcdef has the page ID 0123456789abcdef0123456789abcdef.

Part 3. Put your page IDs in the board file (3 minutes)

In the repository folder, run this. Put your own two IDs in place of the words in capitals:

sed -i "s/YOUR-TODO-LIST-PAGE-ID/MY-TODO-ID/; s/YOUR-HEALTH-LOG-PAGE-ID/MY-HEALTH-ID/" board/index.html

Check it:

grep -n "var PAGE_ID\|var HEALTH_ID" board/index.html

You must see your two IDs, and no YOUR- in these two lines.

Do not use git commit on this file. It now holds your IDs. To keep the repository clean, run git update-index --assume-unchanged board/index.html.

Part 4. Publish the board in Claude (10 minutes)

  1. Open a new chat at claude.ai.
  2. Attach board/index.html to the chat.
  3. Paste this message and send it:

Publish the attached index.html as an artifact, exactly as it is.
Declare these capabilities: db (no rules) and mcp with the server
    "Notion" and the tool "notion-fetch".

  4. Open the artifact. Click Sync Notion, then Allow. Your tasks appear on Tasks.
  5. Copy the artifact link. This guide calls it YOUR-BOARD-ARTIFACT-URL.

Part 5. Build the iPhone Shortcut (40 minutes)

You build the Shortcut on the iPhone, because only the iPhone can read Apple Health.

  1. The Shortcut guide is at https://claude.ai/artifact/Dm6jjbEFNxQutpQ9xAgaTc . It is the same guide for every system.
  2. Send that link to your iPhone. Use email, a messaging app, or KDE Connect.
  3. Open it on the iPhone. Paste your Health Log link into the box at the top.
  4. Follow every part, in order. Tick each step when done.

Keep your Notion key on the iPhone only. Never put it in a file or a chat.

Part 6. Test the chain (5 minutes)

  1. On the iPhone, run the Shortcut once. The notification must start with {"object":"list".
  2. On the computer, open Health Log in Notion. A new dated line is at the bottom.
  3. Open the board, click Sync Notion, and open Health.

Part 7. Daily messages (optional, 10 minutes)

  1. Make edited copies of the two prompts. This does not change the repository files:

    mkdir -p ~/day-board-prompts
    for f in morning-update evening-update; do
      sed "s/YOUR-TODO-LIST-PAGE-ID/MY-TODO-ID/g; s/YOUR-HEALTH-LOG-PAGE-ID/MY-HEALTH-ID/g; s|YOUR-BOARD-ARTIFACT-URL|MY-BOARD-LINK|g; s|YOUR-TIMEZONE|Europe/London|g" prompts/$f.md > ~/day-board-prompts/$f.md
    done

  2. In a Claude chat, send: “Make a scheduled task every day at 8:30am in my time zone with this prompt”, and paste the text of ~/day-board-prompts/morning-update.md.
  3. Do the same for the evening file. Pick a time 15 minutes after your Shortcut automation, for example 11:15pm.

Part 8. Desktop widget (10 minutes)

Follow desktop-widget-linux.md. It makes a small board window with an app-menu entry, autostart and always-on-top.

Daily use

  1. Morning: read your message. Do your check-in on Wellbeing.
  2. During the day: star up to three tasks. Use the Focus timer. Tick tasks when done.
  3. Evening: the Shortcut sends your health line, then the evening message arrives.

If it does not work

You see Fix
sed shows no error but IDs did not change The tag was already replaced, or you ran it in the wrong folder. Run pwd and check you are in notion-health-day-board.
The board says “Set your Notion page IDs” Run the grep check in Part 3.
Sync Notion finds no tasks Check the To-Do List page has checkbox lines, and that you pressed Allow.
