Windows has no built-in way to put a web page on the desktop as a widget. The Windows 11 Widgets panel only takes widgets from installed apps. These steps give the closest result: a small board window that opens with Windows, can stay on top, and is one click away on the taskbar.
Time: about 10 minutes.
YOUR-BOARD-ARTIFACT-URL (README, step 2).Paste this line into the location box. Put your own board link at the end.
For Microsoft Edge:
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c start "" msedge --app=YOUR-BOARD-ARTIFACT-URL
For Google Chrome:
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c start "" chrome --app=YOUR-BOARD-ARTIFACT-URL
The --app= part opens the board in its own small window, with no tabs and no address bar.
Double-click the shortcut. If the browser asks you to sign in, sign in to claude.ai. You only do this once.
shell:startup and press Enter. A folder opens. The board now opens each time you start the computer.
With the board open, right-click its icon on the taskbar and choose Pin to taskbar.
The board link never changes. When the board is updated, the same shortcut shows the new version. Close the window and open it again to load it.
The board cannot send Windows notifications itself. The daily messages are Claude scheduled tasks. They arrive as push notifications in the Claude app, and can also be sent by email. Email notifications show in the Windows notification area through the Mail or Outlook app.
| You see | Fix |
|---|---|
| “The location cannot be found” | Type the two quote marks after start yourself. Copying can turn them into curly quotes. |
| Still not found | Check the browser is installed. As a last resort, paste only the board link in Step 1. That always works, but opens a normal browser tab. |
| A small black box flashes | Set Run to Minimized (Step 1). |
| The board asks you to sign in every time | Sign in once in the normal browser window too, and tick “Stay signed in” if offered. |
| Always On Top does nothing | Check PowerToys is running (its icon is in the system tray). |
